19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized the Russian player secured his maiden trophy for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid year, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - led to him falling of the top ten and ultimately separating with long-time coach Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden trophy after the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt since March of that year.

Victory also indicates he has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my children at once, so to win a title is particularly special," said ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my child her name, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six title deciders, comprising in that event earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving play style and frequent outbursts on court had prompted commentators to question if his skill to perform at the highest level was concluded.

But the player has made changes in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and play aggressively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

Medvedev came back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, taking four of the concluding five points to go ahead.

The pair swapped breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his maiden ATP Tour championship, took control to force a decider.

Moutet rescued four early chances in a competitive third set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, he earned victory with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
